DC Fall Family Portraits: Times Two

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

I really am so lucky to have people invite me into their homes and lives, and share their time with me. It really makes me want to create a book where I step into the lives of all types of Americans from all over our nation, and do a pictorial essay of each. I envision a book where by the end, it is so obvious how similar we all are at our core and within our families no matter our race, religion, or plight. The love we have and the dreams we make are all so similar.

I’ll keep that idea brewing in my mind for when I get a little more free time…

I stepped into the lives of two families this week, and they are both so beautiful!

Meet Jack and Claire. Jack, proving to be a two-year old boy, was very busy playing with cars, trucks, dirt, and doing everything but sitting still. Claire is a sweet, delicious thing that LOVES her Mommy and despite missing her nap, was happy to hang and enjoy the beautiful day.

And we did it!  They wanted one family shot with ALL four of them.  After chasing Jack down and giving a sweet bribe, we did it!

Mojy called me in March making sure she made it on to my fall calendar this year for her family pictures, and I’m so glad she did! I think we got a great sampling of their lives, right now, and it would make a perfect little book to keep going back to. They are a family in love.

Mojy is, as always, an amazingly warm hostess and has a wonderful, open home. Through her, I’ve learned I LOVE Iranian food (even the bulgar with ghee, until I realized it had pulverized turkey in it–so much for secret ingredients…) and the traditions she has shared with me.

Maryland Family Portraits: Go Carter! Go Chase!

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Carter is a precious little guy whom has the best folks around going, doing everything to make the photos fun and memorable.   They understood the idea of a session with me:  Play, relax, and have fun.  Let that inner kid shine through–they change so quickly:

And then I met Chase… Chase is a yummy little guy with parents that have been through so much and are so happy to seem him doing so well today.  Chase was born at 28 weeks.  He would be 6 weeks today if he went to term, but is actually 5 months old and 9 pounds.

Everyone knows I have a baby foot fetish–I love the little nibblets:

Northern Virginia Weddings and Portraits: 10-10-10

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Now that’s a date not seen very often! It’s a perfect wedding anniversary (who can forget that), and the perfect day for a wedding in the DC area. The weather was unbelievable.

I happily met Erin and Don for their utterly charming and quaint affair at the perfectly situated Great Falls home of Leigh and Jon. Erin and Don have a special sweetness in their relationship and two families that love them immensely. It’s a happily ever after that dreams are made of:

This is the fourth time I’ve met up with these kids, and I think they are getting to be more fun every time. They are adorable, sweet, and very fun to be around. I LOVE the natural hugs/tackles the kids give. Makes me want to jump right in:

I *love* this family. Love. And I just can’t get over how wrong (by wrong, I mean right) Kelly looks so close to her due date. The best part of this shower was getting the very special Spaid laugh in stereo. Rock on Kelly!

When I found the Aerosmith onesie, I had to get it for the baby boys I know:

Great Falls Family Portraits: Outnumbered!

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

I was completely outnumbered in this shoot!  ; )  Mom is too, but she handles the full-time balls of energy with grace and giggles. I had a ball bossing the boys around, and watching Audrey try to boss them around. They are quite a trio–all beautiful, all-energy, and above all, FUN!

Real life, as it happens:
