Yoga Studio Photography: Alexandria Family Portraits: Yoga and a Brand New Baby–Two things I love

Monday, March 14th, 2011

First off, meet Colin! I already knew Penelope since a very early age, and now I got to meet Colin. He is adorable and looks so much like his sister.

Mom and Dad are smitten with their new little guy. And Penelope is really, really, really sweet with him. Kissing his toes. Empathetic when he cries. All those things *most* not-quite-two-year olds don’t do. They just don’t. They play with newborns like they are a doll to be poked and prodded. But what a blessing for them, Penelope seems to understand. He is her baby brother, and she loves him:

Anyone that knows me knows yoga is important to me, my life, my sanity, and my health. It isn’t always easy to find time for the mat, but I know I am a better person when I make the mat a priority. Odi & Maryam from Beloved Yoga in Reston & Great Falls asked me to start their new website. I am really excited. I started with some asana portraits. Then I am shooting two classes and making a video for their website as well. I am really, really looking forward to getting the images up on their new site.

They are truly beautiful women, with big hearts:

Maryland Baby Portraits: OH BABY!!!!

They did it! They had their beautiful little boy Noah! He is so perfectly gorgeous and scrumptious at 10 days old–he looks and acts much older. That hair! It’s the silkiest mop ever.

Adia has her own unique birth story, the best of which was telling Daddy to go to bed and get some sleep when she went into labor. “This is going to be a long night, and I’m going to need to you tomorrow. So go to bed.” Wow. Of course, he says he didn’t really sleep much. But I give her credit. She did it all without drugs, just like she wanted.

Having a similar experience, I understood. But I shook my man awake to keep up with timing on the contractions and then he was definitely wide awake after I jumped off the bed. It was definitely time to go to the hospital–contractions went from 4 to 9 minutes to every 2 minutes and STRONG. Like get-on-all-fours-I-can’t-walk-or-talk strong. We had our Nut soon after. Our little love Nut.

And here’s there lucky, little muffin to be surrounded by so much love. Go baby Noah:

Maryland Family Portraits: One-on-One and One-and-MANY

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Meeting Rivka was an absolute dream and a walk down memory lane.  As a mother of a 6 and 8 year old, I forget what it was like to bring home that new baby. I get to live it all over again when come into someone’s home and see their new baby, all of her cuddliness and coos and the new parents so happy to welcome their new love.  They are little miracles wrapped up into perfection!  So good to see all this love in this new little family:

Oh.  Oh! OH!  Lucy, Ruby and Stella!  They are a grand package of love and stripes and flowers, all full of their own kind of spunk.  I am so glad I get to see them every year. They are a very special crew. Lucy, so excited for me to come, couldn’t seem to remember why she was so excited for me to come. It’s hard to be put on the spot like that. Life is not always a walk in the park, and sisters sometimes like to block the spotlight.
