Vashon’s spring is green with longer days beneath deep blue skies or the layers of clouds mold to shape around mountains and hills, or the open spaces in between. The earth starts to wake up with unfurling ferns, prickly nettles, and budding blossoms along with the birds after their slow winter with sounds of territorial fighting and hunting. Witnessing the change on my walks or while working on our property to bring it closer to its native roots (good bye concrete and grass! Hello native plants!). And then I was so glad to meet and photograph these little lamb, and their keepers for a month.
I learned that orphaned lamb need to eat, a lot. Watching them suck down their bottles and come in for cuddles was precious. Even more so, the family dog, not a sheep dog, took these little lamb in as her own, to love and cherish. Priceless.
