Yoga Studio Photography: Alexandria Family Portraits: Yoga and a Brand New Baby–Two things I love

Monday, March 14th, 2011

First off, meet Colin! I already knew Penelope since a very early age, and now I got to meet Colin. He is adorable and looks so much like his sister.

Mom and Dad are smitten with their new little guy. And Penelope is really, really, really sweet with him. Kissing his toes. Empathetic when he cries. All those things *most* not-quite-two-year olds don’t do. They just don’t. They play with newborns like they are a doll to be poked and prodded. But what a blessing for them, Penelope seems to understand. He is her baby brother, and she loves him:

Anyone that knows me knows yoga is important to me, my life, my sanity, and my health. It isn’t always easy to find time for the mat, but I know I am a better person when I make the mat a priority. Odi & Maryam from Beloved Yoga in Reston & Great Falls asked me to start their new website. I am really excited. I started with some asana portraits. Then I am shooting two classes and making a video for their website as well. I am really, really looking forward to getting the images up on their new site.

They are truly beautiful women, with big hearts:

This is your family, however you define it.  You.  Him.  Her.  Them.  Fluffy.  Bowser.

Alexandria Family Portraits: One wonderful family

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Paula called me early in the summer with her gift certificate in hand (a lovely gift–right?). Her son would only be home from college through August and she would really like to have a session. We talked about what my session is like, and how we could do this with their two children. I suggested coming to her home in the morning and getting a little morning time together–a little fun over breakfast.

I love being with families where the love is so there and present it can’t be missed. And this completely defined this family.

I think they turned out pretty wonderful:

Alexandria Family Portraits: 10-years for John and Meghan!

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Meghan and John brought in 10 years together with the sweetest portrait session. I don’t often get asked to do anniversary sessions like this, so I relished in the newness! All five of them in and around their home.

Despite the kitties being less than cooperative models at times, there are some really fun pics. I can’t wait for them to get the rest.

Albums are on their way!

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Finishing up the last details in a client’s contract is like spring cleaning.  I am officially clean–all of my 2009 wedding albums are done or in for binding at Leather Craftsmen.  It feels good to see the final product and give a client a huge smile and an album to last for generations.

For Gloria and Abe, I started their album and sent it to them for revisions and approval.  They chose a beautiful buttery black leather and gold lettering.

I am loving my new photo book for family shoot.   The book has a sewn binding and layflat spreads (really, really hard to come by).  The pages are nice and thick, but not too stiff.  Just right.  And of course, I love this family.  They totally wanted what I had to give.  Real, beautiful, and in-the-moment images.
