Vashon Photography: Summer

Sunday, August 2nd, 2015

This family is real–genuine, loving and fun.  I could gush over them on and on, drooling over Anya’s Spicy Green Mango Line (fashion with a heart and soul), the creative juices flowing through the well-read daughter to create her own book, and the adventurous souls of the both boys, but I’ll let their images speak for them.  They shine through.

Did I mention a really naughty kitty?

As I scrolled through looking at the images from this family session, a wave of gratitude rolled over me. I met this family when Max was just born. I have returned to capture a little moment in their lives every year since. I love how the photos show the changes, year after year. What do they do? What did kids play with? How did they interact? How did they love? They aren’t pretty portraits–they are real moments. They are perfect to me.

It all goes so fast…

Earlier this year in the spring, Cheryl from Vashon Dance Academy asked me to help her with their poster for this year’s production of Mary Poppins Ballet. Dancers and their shapes…

Vashon Allied Arts needed a photo of the trio for their upcoming marketing campaign. Times like this (all of these) I really appreciate the people my work brings into my life.

San Francisco Portrait Photography: Around the states, and home again.

To say I had a summer to go down in the the record books would be an understatement (link to my Facebook business page for photos here). I was blessed to not only have my girls, a Vanagon, a husband when he could be there, and many, many friends in our 9000 miles trek, but I was also blessed to see some clients I adore along the way. More on our X-country journey later.

Jenna and Mark have been in my life since I met them in Skippack, PA to talk about their wedding.  We were a perfect fit and I adored their wedding, their style, their family and their friends.  They are magnificent.  We followed that up an amazing Trash the Dress to follow. And now you know what comes next–the baby bump. Jenna, always gorgeous, is stunning in pregnancy as well.

And how lucky am I that I followed this family from DC, where we met twice, to their new home in NY, close to where we visit Camp Cottage Crayton on Conesus every summer. These kids make my day. Zoe is a total crack up and Max has caught up.  They are forces in the best way.

I showed up just in time for a freaky rain storm. We ran outside to get a few pics, but that ended quickly. Inside for some play and downtime and playtime.  Adorable!

Modern Portrait Photography: Kitty & Go-lee-shay sashay

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Before I start rambling on about how much I love and will miss the Trinh and all the members of her family when we relocate to the Bay Area, I need to start with the fifth member of our family.  Kitty, Lisee’s favorite love for 6 years, brings out the best in our family–she is the best in all of us put into one little stuffed muffin.  She comes with us nearly everywhere, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.  We all wish we could fly like her.  Meet Kitty:

Now onto Trinh and her beautiful family, whom we met almost six years ago.  sigh.  They are wonderful, and I will miss the times and shared laughs.

Each of kids has a very unique personality, all to their own. Josephine is sweet, and gentle, and not quite the camera hog that her younger siblings liked to be. But amazingly, she is the one that stood out in so many of the photos. She moves her body in eye-catching ways. I think she’ll love looking at them. Madeline is the quintessential camera flirt–all personality and life. She is funny and lively, and a fun, fun kid all around. Lucas is ALL boy. I watched him go from baby to almost preschooler. He was such a sit-tight baby, so happy on his Momma’s lap. mmhhh. Those days are gone! Now he’s speaking German with his Dad, throwing hoops, and running the cul-de-sac.

There are such a wonderful family–I think it shows. So much love:
